XaRFA and Xartec Salut host a meeting on 3D printing and biomaterials for healthcare

On July 31, XaRFA and Xartec Salut organized the ‘Share & Connect’ meeting, an innovative event designed to share trends and connect professionals in the HealthTech sector. This edition focused on 3D printing and biomaterials. Held at the Moritz Factory in Barcelona, the event brought together leading professionals in the field to facilitate networking, promote knowledge exchange, and showcase the latest research advancements.

The session featured numerous presentations that explored topics such as the customization of 3D-printed materials for biological applications, the development of cutting-edge biomaterials for tissue regeneration and cartilage recreation, and the use of silicone in medical devices. Notable speakers included Jordi Sand Mila (IMEM-BRT, UPC), Anna Díez Escudero (BBT, UPC), César Rodríguez (IBEC), Robert Teixidor (GEMAT, IQS), Oscar Castaño (IBEC), Juan Crespo (TR2Lab, UVic ELISAVA), Elena Xuriguera (DIOPMA, UB) and Sergi Bafaluy (IAM3DHUB, Leitat). 

The event also featured a round table discussion titled “Challenges in 3D Printing and Biotissues” moderated by Felip Fenollosa, Director of Strategic R&D at CIM UPC. Panelists included Arnau Valls, Engineer at the Innovation and Research Directorate of the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu and Head of the 3D Unit; Jordi Martorell, CEO and co-founder of Aortyx; Talyta Carteano, Regulatory Affairs Manager at Asphalion and expert in medical devices; and Octavio Lenis Santiago, from the Guttmann Neurorehabilitation Hospital.

To conclude, attendees participated in a dynamic networking session accompanied by beers & drinks, fostering relationships and synergies among the sector stakeholders.

The ‘Share & Connect’ events successfully promote networking and knowledge exchange, while highlighting the advancements and challenges in the field of 3D printing and biomaterials in healthcare.
