The Additive Manufacturing Reference Network of Catalonia (XaRFA), coordinated by the advanced manufacturing center,CIM UPC, will celebrate the nextMonday, September 22, 2025 are Annual Members’ Meeting, a key event for the Catalan additive manufacturing research and innovation community.
The meeting will take place at the facilities ofCIM UPC (Assembly Hall of the FME Building of the UPC, Barcelona)and will bring together representatives of the35 research groups i 18 member entitiesof the network, as well as new members (adhered in the new renewal proposal for the period 2026-2028), collaborating companies, public institutions and ecosystem agents.
With the aim ofstrengthen the Xarfa community, make visible good practices and emerging projects, and generate a space for debate and collaboration between the different actors involved, the daywill be structuredin two different parts:
- General Assembly Meeting(9h – 10h):
Exclusive session for active members (with a signed 2023-2025 agreement) to evaluate the closing of the current period, present the 2026-2028 renewal proposal, and approve future strategic milestones. - Meeting of members of the Xarfa(from 10:00h):
Part of the day that will be obthroughout the network community. It will include an institutional welcome, a roundtable discussion with success stories in technology transfer, and a Demo Day featuring innovative projects promoted by member groups. The day will conclude with a guided tour of the CIM UPC pilot plant and a networking event with snacks.
Since its creation, XaRFA has established itself as a temporary support structure for the valorization, transfer, and internationalization of knowledge related to additive manufacturing in Catalonia. This annual conference, which is part of the network’s strategic action plan, represents a unique opportunity toStrengthen alliances between research centers, universities, hospitals, companies, and public administration, promoting the transformation of scientific knowledge into high-impact industrial applications.
In the words of XaRFA promoter Lua Po Vicente and the coordinating team:
“This event aims to be much more than an annual gathering. It’s a demonstration of collective commitment to continue building a strong, active, and connected network, capable of generating real and sustainable value through the transfer of additive manufacturing technologies.”
In short, this day of gathering aims to consolidate an active and cohesive community, capable of promoting transformative initiatives that connect research with the real needs of industry and society.
